Thirty bright, excited young children eagerly and nervously stepped onto the stage in front of an audience, many for the first time ever on Friday. It all started with the LSPAC's first (of many awesome) theater academy on July 11th. For two weeks these kids had a fairly active and intense camp. These guys learned many aspects of the theater from auditions, music, choreography, sets, costuming, and even improvisation. Directed by two of Somerset County's own teachers, Heather McHenry and Andrew Widger, the Theater Academy students packed in two weeks a phenomenal performance, of which some could only produce in several months. In addition to learning lines, music, and movement, the kids also had some special treats along the way: guest speakers ranging from local actors (one even in costume from 1776!) and a radio personality, and the highlight of the week was Disney International singer Sofi Tyler! As you can imagine, the students had a blast! After the exhausting week, most of which didn't want it to end, and many are ready for next year!
